DEAR WIFE, IT’S TRUE THAT YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL and that you are the glory of your husband(1 Corinthians 11: 7c ). However, you need to also know that our anchor scripture says that A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN WITHOUT DISCRETION IS LIKE A GOLDEN RING IN THE NOSE OF A PIG! Think about that for awhile!
A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is like a golden ring on the nose of a dirty, wet, muddy and smelly PIG! That’s one of the reasons the Bible says that Beauty is vain; because all alone by itself, it adds no real value to anything. Beauty doesn’t make a woman a better cook, a better house keeper, a better wife, etc. Beauty is just like the colour of a car. The colour of a car never adds anything to it’s usefulness or performance capacity.
It’s discretion that gives quality and meaning to Beauty.
What’s DISCRETION? Discretion is THE QUALITY OF HAVING OR SHOWING DISCERNMENT OR GOOD JUDGEMENT. It’s the ability to know the right things to do per time and to do them at the most appropriate time. Simply put, DISCRETION IS WISDOM.
Do you remember that at a time, beautiful Queen Vashti was called by King Ahasuerus, her husband, to come and show her Beauty to his honourable guests?(Esther Chapter 1) Unfortunately, she instead demonstrated her lack of discretion by refusing to obey her husband’s call.
But what’s so difficult in dressing up and coming to be seen as a woman who is beautiful? Isn’t it a very simple task and a privilege? But because she lacked discretion she didn’t think of the consequences of disobeying her husband’s orders. The result was that the King rolled out a decree dethroning her. Now, to show you how bereft of wisdom she was:
she made no attempts to beg or entreat the King for forgiveness and reinstatement! She saw no need to ask for pardon!
Now, can you see what the lack of DISCRETION could bring upon a beautiful woman? The ego and pride from her beauty makes her blind to her awkward realities until her ugly situation is beyond remedy.
Dear Woman, you were born with Beauty but not with discretion. You must, like King Solomon, earnestly desire discretion, hunger for it and seriously seek for it until you possess it. And happily, the Source of discretion isn’t far from us. God and His Word are the Source of discretion. This is why truly godly women are full of discretion. It shows in their speech, character, conduct in their home and outside; in their dressing, in their relationships, etc.
Your Beauty is good but never, never let it get into your head for any reason.
Your beauty is God’s gift to your husband. Your husband’s presence in your life gives your beauty honour and meaning! His presence in your life turns your beauty into A CROWN that people are afraid to come near, let alone touch, because it’s resting on his head. Glory without an owner is no glory. That’s why beautiful women who work as porn artists have no respect. They’re pretty but they’re like golden rings in the noses of stinking Pigs! People see such women and laugh at them secretly. Lustful men who have no business with them whistle at them. No one dares whistle at a beautiful married woman with discretion except if she’s wrongly dressed or has gone to the wrong part of town.
Your Beauty becomes meaningful and dignified when you submit to your Husband and use your charms to serve him; and as a shield of protection to keep him from being destroyed by strange women. So, use your beauty to serve and honour your husband. Don’t let it turn you into a proud and haughty woman that he sees but can’t touch. That’s torture.
