IN YESTERDAY’S DEVOTIONAL PIECE, we learned that
God deliberately set the original couple in the nude because “SEEING EACH OTHER’S FULL NAKED BODY was important, necessary and BENEFICIAL TO THE MARRIED STATE”.
Till this very moment, the need for Spouses to SEE EACH OTHER’S FULL NAKEDNESS has neither changed nor diminished. Instead, it’s higher than ever because the devil is out and fiercely using ungodly dressing, street nudity by the daughters of Jezebel and online pornography to polute hearts and destroy lives.
God created the human eyes and mind such that the loveliest sight they’re most easily attracted to watch with prolonged interest aren’t the beauty of a scenic beach, a sublime sunset at dusk
or a sunny snowcapped mountain but the full view of the naked body of the opposite Sex. If you’re in doubt, ask King David what he was gazing at, at the age of 52, as he stood alone on his rooftop at eventide. It wasn’t the orange glow of the Sun dying in the West. It was the beautiful body of a bathing housewife in full view.
Between the time the American Journalist, Hugh Hefner started the world’s first pornographic magazine in 1953 and now, only God knows how many husbands, wives, marriages and homes have perished because of the lust to see full coloured pictures of the naked human body.
In marriage, God has given every Spouse so much more than gloss magazine pictures of obscenities. He has graciously given you a red-blooded, fully matured adult person of the opposite sex for them to not only live with you and vice versa BUT FOR EACH OF YOU TO FREELY SEE EACH OTHER’S FULL NAKED BODY and be visually satisfied in the erotic sense.
I can’t forget the godly Bishop who told us from his pulpit way back in the 1980s how himself and his wife bathe together and that it gave them the advantage of helping to sponge-scrub each other’s back! We laughed hilariously then because most of us were unmarried. It was years later that I saw great sense and wisdom in what the Clergyman was telling us. When you and your Mate freely see each other’s full nakedness often enough, the lust of the eyes loses it’s grips over you!
When the Bible speaks about the lust of the eyes, it’s also telling you that there’s the RIGHT HUNGER OF THE EYES which the lust of the eyes is only the opposite.
There’s a natural desire and hunger in the eyes of every husband to see the breasts and all the other parts of the beautiful body of his wife. The same hunger and craving is in the wives as well. Hear what the Bible says:
“The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”(Proverbs 27: 7)
This verse is saying: a man who is well fed would reject honey, sweet and tasty though it is; but the starving man would accept to eat that which is bitter all because of extreme hunger.
Spouses who often see each other’s full nakedness in full details under light aren’t drawn to pornography and such things. They instead hate and detest them.
When Spouses fully understand and deeply believe that their bodies are truly the image of the glorious and Eternal God, they’ll know that there’s nothing embarrassing about letting their Spouse freely see their body as often as they desire. In letting your spouse see your body in full detail, you’re feeding their eyes erotically; and more importantly, you’re imprinting yourself on their minds and storing your image in their memories. These are powerful ways of CLEAVING to your Partner(Genesis 2: 24) and making them voluntarily set you as a seal upon their hearts and arm(Song of Solomon 8:6); enabling your love for each other to become as strong and as all consuming of all it’s enemies as Death (Song of Solomon 8:6)
