A highly respected University Professor once found himself in a state of awkward predicament. What was his dilemma? It was this: as handsome and intelligent as he was, he was a fatal failure in marriage. He just couldn’t keep a woman!

Academic qualifications and laurels won’t give you what it takes to be a successful romantic lover in marriage.

Dearly Beloved, God has made available to us in His Word, the secrets to excellence in every aspect of life.

Have you ever taken time to think about David’s brilliant success as a fighter? First as a boy in the fields of Bethlehem where he killed the bear and the lion; and later his killing of Goliath with a stone and a sling?

Our anchor scripture for today reveals his secret. GOD TAUGHT HIM HOW TO FIGHT! And because God taught him to fight, he became a mighty warrior in his time.

In Psalm 18: 34 David revealed:

“He teacheth my hands to war, so that the bow of steel is broken by mine arms”(Psalm 18:34)

What? Break a steel bow with bare hands? Yes, David could do that because God trained him.

When God trains a man in any thing, he turns out able to do the impossible in that area.

God’s training David imparted to him the ability to do the extraordinary!
The same thing will happen in your love life and marriage when you humble yourself enough and allow God to teach you. You’ll begin to do the extraordinary in the bedroom and in all other facets of your marriage.

GOD’S MEANS OF TEACHING

(1)THE HOLY SPIRIT
Perhaps, your question is: “Where did God meet and teach David the secrets of Warfare?” Answer: David was anointed and had the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit taught him how to fight.

As a child of God, you also have the Holy Spirit living in you because your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

From within you, He’ll teach you but that’s if you will listen. Jesus said:

“However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth”(John 16: 13a).

The Holy Spirit is in us to GUIDE us into all truth. Including matrimonial truths.

When you give Him attention on any knotty aspect of your marriage, you’ll hear Him speak to your spirit, telling you what to do. Apostle John put it this way:

“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”(1 John 2:27)

The Holy Spirit is The Anointing. He is in you to teach you all things: cookery, laundry, baby care; for husbands: how to last in bed long enough for your wife to freely harvest all the orgasms she needs; for wives: how to submit to your husband acceptably, how to build your home as a woman; how to live with an unsaved spouse, etc, etc.

(2) THE GRACE OF GOD
The Grace of God gives us extraordinary power, strength and enablement to do what we’re called to do that we tend not to be able to do.

For instance, Apostle Paul confessed that it was God’s grace(divine enablement) that advanced him so greatly in ministry.

You need the Grace of God to help you advance in each area of your marriage.

That’s why God tells us to come before the throne of Grace to ask for the Grace that will enable us meet vital needs(Hebrews 4:16).

To receive Grace, you must humble yourself for it’s written:

“But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”(James 4:6)

(3) KNOWLEDGE
Another means God would use to make you a super-lover in love life and marriage is knowledge.

In Hosea 4:6 God lamented: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”.

You need knowledge of God’s Word on Marriage and love life to enjoy excellence in marriage.
