THE MASTER KEY TO BEING A SUCCESSFUL HUSBAND IS TO BE AN ARDENT AND AN UNARGUABLY DEDICATED LOVER to your wife. That’s why God tells husbands repeatedly to love their wives. He didn’t command them to buy her “a private jet” or to gift her “a mansion in Dubai”. He commands husbands to love their wives because the man who genuinely loves his wife will be willing to go to any length within his means to make her happy.
LOVE is the ignition key that turns a woman on. In that word is all you need to make your wife a happy woman who’d naturally respond to you without being begged or coerced.
Our anchor scripture shows us a rare demonstration of love, loyalty and allegiance.
When David was in the cave of Adullam, he suddenly expressed a desire to drink the water of the well at the gate of Bethlehem. He never said it twice. Just once.
Just because he said it, three of his soldiers took a high risk to get the water for him. He didn’t mention their names. He just expressed a wish he could actually do without. But for those three men, David was too dear to their hearts for them to leave his wishes unmet and his thirst for the water of his choice unquenched.
And so risking life and limbs, they fought their way through a garrison of Philistine soldiers to fetch David water to drink!
Sir/Ma, love goes well beyond sentiments and feelings. It goes far beyond embraces, kisses and sexual intimacy. It would sometimes call for great courage, bravery and the heart to put your very life on the line to make the one you love happy by getting them something as simple as ordinary drinking water of a specific brand that they long for.
Loving your wife entails or requires you being constantly mindful of exactly who she is to you: the bone of your bones and the flesh of your.
The three men who risked their lives to fetch Water for David from the Well at Bethlehem knew who David was: the future King of Israel. That Knowledge fuelled their love with zeal and enthusiasm.
Similarly, you must moment by moment have the consciousness that your wife isn’t just a mere woman but your Queen and the Lady of your home and world.
Adam had the same consciousness as soon as he set his eyes on Eve and that’s why he exclaimed, “This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh”(Genesis 2:23A)
Recognizing your wife as your very body helps you to feel for her. It enables you treat her with love, respect, dignity, kindness, empathy, compassion and tenderness.
As a husband your loving your wife must be in the footsteps of Christ Who loved the Church and gave Himself for her(Ephesians 5:25). Christ’s giving His very life for the Church is a much bigger demonstration of the kind of love David’s three warriors showed him. Every husband is called in marriage to demonstrate self-sacrificing love for his wife when ever the need arises.
