IN OUR DEVOTIONAL PIECE for yesterday, we saw that recognition of Seniority and Rank factors in marriage will help a Wife to Submit to her husband.

Similarly, God has made provision for what will aid Husbands to find fulfilling their role of loving their Wives easy. We find that provision in Ephesians 5:28 which is our anchor verse for today.

In that key verse, Husbands are graciously enjoined to LOVE THEIR WIVES AS THEIR OWN BODIES. It means, if you understand how you demonstrate LOVE for your BODY, do the same things for your Wife and you’ll be successful in your marital duty of loving your Wife supremely.

Now, let’s get to work quickly, Husbands.
How do you love your BODY daily?

1. PROTECTION . You protect your body from ALL HARM. You don’t want to die untimely or suffer pains.
Similarly, PROTECT your wife from all harm, hurts and pains. Defend her against attacks from In-laws(your relatives), neighbours, bad folks at church, and every other assailants.
(2) NOURISHMENT
You feed your body thrice daily. You don’t want your body to go hungry and become emaciated.
Similarly, NOURISH your Wife DAILY. Feed her physically. Attend to her emotional needs.
Feed her with sincere praise, admiration and APPRECIATION.
Eulogize her, adore HER BODY. Assure and reassure her that she’s your one and only love. Lavishly expend your affection on her. If you’re musical, compose Love Songs specially for her. If you’re a Poet, write Poems about her. Love her endlessly!
And of course, she needs you to give her trustful spiritual leadership too.
(3) BATHING .
You bathe your body every new day. You never insult your body for getting dirty again after you bathed it yesterday.
And when you bathe it, you do so in the bathroom so people don’t see it’s nakedness and laugh at you.
Similarly, your wife needs the bathe of FORGIVENESS, FORBEARANCE, PATIENCE and LOVING CORRECTION everyday. And just as you NEVER insult your body for getting dirty after the good bathe of yesterday, NEVER INSULT OR DESPISE YOUR WIFE FOR NEEDING ANOTHER FORGIVENESS TODAY. And just as you never BATHE in the open, NEVER CORRECT HER IN THE OPEN and before people. Clean up her mistakes in the bedroom, just between you and her. Don’t let people see her nakedness(her faults,etc) and laugh at you.
(4) GROOMING AND DRESSING .
After bathing, you use body creams, lotions, and combs to give your body some necessary touches. And then you go on to dress up in good and befitting wears that make you look good and respectable.
Similarly, do all that’s within your power daily to BEAUTIFY AND GLORIFY YOUR WIFE and make her look glorious and respectable in the eyes of friends and foes.
(5) COMFORT, REST AND SLEEP.
You ensure that your BODY is comfortable. That’s why you have beds, full upholstery chairs, AC, etc. You also give your body REST and SLEEP EVERYDAY.
Similarly, provide for your wife’s comfort. Yes, Sex is your right in marriage but allow her rest any day she’s truly tired and can’t be available. Sometimes, give her a short “Holiday” or “Casual Leave” from Cooking. Buy some fast foods and eat just so Mummy will rest awhile!
(6) OTHER SERVICES THAT YOU LOVINGLY RENDER TO YOUR BODY.
There are other ways you love your BODY. Think and you’ll remember them. Love your wife in such ways too.

Can you see? Loving your Wife isn’t a herculean task after all!
JUST LOVE HER AS YOU LOVE YOUR BODY.
