UNPROTECTED MARRIAGES!

Scripture:
‘BE SOBER, BE VIGILANT’
(1 PETER 5:8a)

People build houses and spend a fortune to secure them.

They fit powerful protectors and strong burglary proofs. They build high fences and fortify same with broken glass security topping. And of course, a massive and impregnable gate is fully in place. All these are beside the couple of ferocious Alsatians whose wild barking alone easily scares away the bravest of thieves.

Many are smart enough to secure their cars and businesses with good and reliable insurance schemes that work.

But have you observed that most people do not think that their marriage is worth protecting?

They probably spent a fortune to hold an impressive wedding that was attended by thousands but do absolutely nothing to protect their marriage. In fact, they don’t see anything as a threat to it.

But Sir/Ma, you definitely have seen one, two or perhaps more broken marriages. Some of them, probably, marriages of respected Pastors and spiritual leaders.

Well, those couples never planned to break up. Nobody does. But it happened because most couples were not taught that it’s their duty to protect their union against the many enemies that are on the loose seeking for marriages to destroy.

When you hear that the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom to devour(1 Peter 5: 8b) one of his targets is unprotected Marriages. But that same scripture tells you it’s your duty to be sober, wide awake and watchful!!(1 Peter 5: 8a)

=How To Protect Your Marriage=

1)The First Protection: Feed Your Marriage Every Day!

Like your physical and spiritual life, your marriage is a living thing and needs to be fed.

You feed your physical life with physical food and your spiritual life with God’s Word. You feed your love life and Marriage with acts of true love, romance, affection and sexual intimacy.

This means that those sexual demands from your Spouse are no disturbances but opportunities to give your marriage the life sustaining nourishments it needs.

When you neglect them or are inconsistent in practicing them, your marriage will grow lean, weak and frail. It won’t take much pressure from the enemy for it to fall.

So, feed your marriage daily for it to be healthy and full of stamina to withstand the enemy’s push.
