OUR ANCHOR SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY isn’t about married couple’s bedroom life. However, there’s something we’ll learn from the great woman in that story and it’s HER GRACIOUS AND DISARMING ATTITUDE that made Prophet Elisha accept her hospitality. Even though the Prophet initially turned down her request for him to come for a meal in her home, she lovingly, gently, respectfully and with all the friendliness she could muster entreated him to accept her offer. The Bible sums up her gracious attitude in four words: AND SHE CONSTRAINED HIM! This is the same attitude that Abraham demonstrated when God appeared to him in the company of two Angels and he hosted them to a launch (Genesis 18). Lydia the purple seller did the same thing and hosted Paul and Silas, great men of God (Acts 16).
There’s something most Spouses don’t know and it’s this: each time you come together for sexual intimacy with your husband or wife, God gives you a new opportunity to lovingly host them to a Sexual Love Feast. He gives you an opportunity to GIVE and according to the Words of the Lord Jesus, it is more blessed to give than to receive. Therefore, before sexual intimacy think of how best to present what you have to offer. Present it in such a way that your Mate’s appetite will be so greatly aroused they’ll feed ravenously at “the table you’ve set”.
Many Spouses don’t give attention to their attitude during intimacy. They would talk recklessly not minding the fact that their words could ruin the entire encounter. They talk down to their Mate, making them look stupid, foolish or silly for desiring sexual intimacy. Example: “Hey you woman! Are you coming or not? If you’re not coming just tell me and let me put on my Pyjamas. Abeg, don’t waste my time. I want to sleep!” Meanwhile, they’ve not even waited for three minutes! This is a wrong attitude. Or the wife could say: “You’re so full of Lust. Even animals control their urge. If you’re ready start, abeg. And finish quickly, ooo! I want to watch some interesting films on YouTube.”
As already hinted, the time of sexual intimacy is A TIME OF GIVING and the attitude with which you give is very important. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 9:7 that God loves A CHEERFUL GIVER! If God enjoys gifts that are given with cheerfulness, then human beings made in His image most definitely enjoy gifts presented to them with cheerfulness. But if you come for sexual intimacy with frowns, hisses, grumbling and hostility written all over you just because you feel that you’re being bothered about sex too often, it’s most likely that even when the act takes place your Mate won’t enjoy it. It’s things like this that fuel extramarital affairs. It’s on record that over 80 per cent of those that patronize prostitutes are married men. Why do they abandon their yummy and delectable wives at home and seek street girls? Attitude! Disrespectful and uninviting attitude. Wives who go into Infidelity will also tell you it’s attitude palaver. They’re treated like trash in the hour of Sex.
Always come into the hour of lovemaking with an attitude that will arouse your Spouse and boost your lovemaking and not one that will ruin your precious time together.
