NO MATTER HOW GLORIOUS, INTENSE AND CONSISTENT your romance and love as a couple, one thing is sure: you’ll meet with the storms of life as you travel along. This is because the earth is a battlefield.

Thankfully, the God Who joined you in marriage is always close by and ready to intervene and save you, if you will call upon Him in believing prayer.

Our anchor scripture is a promise of God that you and your spouse can always confidently act upon in times of trouble and be gloriously saved

A husband left his station in public transport to visit his family for a weekend. Upon arrival in the town, he boarded a tricycle that took him to the part of town where he lived.

His family received him warmly; everybody excited that Daddy was back home after nearly two months of absence! The home’s atmosphere quickly changed to that of joy as the family was now complete.

However, when by the next morning he wanted to mark the Exam scripts he’d packed into a large envelope, they were no where to be found! As Exams Officer of his institution he had come with other sensitive documents: all packed in the same envelope. If these were ordinary Exam scripts it was bad enough but these were MOCK WASCE Exam scripts. The implications of their loss were more disastrous. He could not tell whether he’d mistakenly forgotten the precious scripts and documents in the bus that brought him to town or the tricycle he finally boarded.

Confusion. Distress.
Emotional pains.
Perhaps, he shouldn’t have come home.

He swung into action immediately. He went to the Road Transporters’ Union Office and spoke with their Chairman. No luck.

He headed to the Tricycle Workers Association Office. Frustration.

Back home, he told his wife how all his efforts had yielded no fruits. It was obvious that they had to earnestly seek divine intervention or else his career would be at great risk.

They laid hold on our anchor scripture for today:

“And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.”(Psalm 50:15)
Clinging to this scripture verse, they cried out to God again and again, asking Him to grant them His promised deliverance.

The wife soon observed that her husband was beginning to get moody. She dropped her tray that was filled with flour and walked up to him.

“Sweetheart, please don’t let this incident sadden you. We’ve begun praying and I’m certain that God will keep His promise. He never fails. Don’t forget the song that says, “Why worry when you can pray!” This is the devil at work. We must not let him ruin our weekend.” Those pleasant and faith inspiring words lit a huge smile on her husband’s face. From that moment forward, they both put the matter of the missing documents behind them and the weekend was as romantic as it could be.

Very early in the morning on Monday, he was on his way to his station without the scripts and documents. In his station, he continued praying reminding God of His promise in our anchor scripture.

Back home, his wife was also praying with all the earnestness in her.

By the next weekend, a stranger came to the Exams Officer’s school and asked to be allowed to see him. Long story short, the stranger met the Exams Officer and handed him the envelope. The Exams Officer quickly recognized him as the gentleman who sat beside him in the bus during his journey home. The gracious man noted that he(the Exams Officer) had forgotten the bulky brown envelope as he hurriedly disembarked from the bus and hastily entered a tricycle. He then took the envelope with him with the intent to trace him with the name on the envelope and give him the forgotten package.
The Exam Officer was overjoyed. He thanked the kind gentleman and they parted ways.
Soon after, he called his wife and told her what God had done!

Troubles, trials, tribulations and challenges will come your way as you travel life’s highway. But victory is sure if you can take hold of God’s unwavering promises which abound in His Word, the Bible. Act on His promises with FAITH and you will see His power turn your trials into triumphs and testimonies.
