IN OUR DEVOTIONAL piece for yesterday, we noted that one of the reasons many marriages have ended up “inflicting” distresses, headaches, stress, and hypertension on spouses instead of delivering loads of comfort and delight is the faulty or wrong practice of marriage by couples. A close look at our Anchor scripture shows that Isaac practiced marriage correctly right from the onset, even though he had no Bible.
(1) Isaac GAVE Rebecca the revered and well furnished house of his saintly mother, Sarah. In giving her that “hallowed” House, he had given her the highest honour he could bequeath on a woman! Truly speaking, Rebecca was too young for such honour but Isaac did it because she was his wife and because he loved her dearly. By that singular act, HE HAD MADE HER A MATRIARCH. And only a foolish woman would receive such an honour and still disrespect the Husband who had elevated her to that high status. HUSBANDS, HONOUR YOUR WIVES(1 Peter 3:7). By that you’ll reap the harvest of respect and loyalty.
(2) Isaac ” TOOK ” Rebecca. He fully accepted her: beauty, flaws, imperfections and all. He believed she was a “good thing” and a mark of “favour from the Lord” even though Proverbs 18:22 had not yet been written!
Husbands, walk in the footsteps of Isaac. Let your Wife find ACCEPTANCE in your sight. Stop comparing and complaining. What she can’t do today, she can learn and do tomorrow. Unconditional acceptance will boost her self confidence as well as deepen her love for you.
(3) Above all ISAAC LOVED HER ! This is the main factor responsible for the abundance of Comfort in their marriage: ISAAC LOVED REBECCA IMMENSELY AND LAVISHLY . Rebecca made him comfortable in return, because his Love made her feel like a Queen.
Dearly Beloved, the greatest life transforming force in the universe is LOVE . It’s what turns rebellious sinners into Worshippers of God. Consistent overwhelming Love turns a woman’s heart to cherish and adore her husband.
Now, what was the role of Rebecca in the success story of their marriage? Or was she a mere spectator? No. She responded to her Husband by reverencing him and submitting to his authority. SHE SERVED HER HUSBAND with the same zeal, undivided devotion and ardour with which she served the Chief Steward of Abraham and the ten camels at the Well in Nahor, Mesopotamia.

💞 Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing us together as Husband and Wife.
💞Father, help us to humbly and sincerely love and serve each other lavishly daily.
💞Grant us your Grace to each be 100% committed to the success of our marriage. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

At bedtime tonight, sit together on the bed and read Genesis 2:24-25 together. Discuss it as the Holy Spirit enables you. After discussing it, hold hands and pray briefly before going to sleep.
