YOUR NIGHT-TIME APPEARANCE MATTERS

Scripture:
‘A BUNDLE OF MYRRH IS MY WELLBELOVED UNTO ME; HE SHALL LIE ALL NIGHT BETWIXT MY BREASTS.’
(SONG OF SOLOMON 1:13)

🎈🎉One day, very long ago, I saw my neighbor’s wife returning from a church wedding. She looked so stunning it took me several seconds to realize it was her. She wore no artificial eyelashes or false fingernails; she was just her natural self, well-polished. It took me a while to recognize her!

The truth is, there is always a stunning version of each and every one of us. Sadly, we often fail to present this version to the one who matters most: our spouse.

🎈🎉THE “PRESENTABLE” VERSION
Every day, spouses wake up, bathe, and dress up to look good because they feel it is important to present a “presentable” version of themselves to their bosses and coworkers.

On Sundays, they bathe, groom, and dress in their Sunday best because it is good to appear properly in the house of God. This is perfectly fine.

When attending special occasions like weddings or birthday parties, they go the extra mile to look their very best, and that extra effort always pays off. By the time they are finished and look in the mirror, they are smiling exuberantly. Their confidence soars, and they head out boldly, ready to meet even the President!

🎈🎉NEGLECTING THE GREATEST DIGNITARY
But why is it that most of these same spouses, who dress well to meet outsiders, pay little attention to dressing well for the greatest dignitary in their personal world—their spouse?

Many spouses who have large wardrobes for social occasions have absolutely nothing to wear as “love-wear” to turn the head and heart of their partner at night. Yet, they must get very close to each other every single evening.

In many homes, couples climb into bed wearing old, torn clothes—the dregs of the wardrobe. Some don’t think it’s necessary to wear anything special at all. That same loincloth they’ve been using for the past five years is considered “okay.” But this is not romantic wisdom.

🎈🎉THE WISDOM OF THE NIGHT
If you think it is important to look impressive and smell fragrant for outsiders, know that it is wisdom to look stunning and sweet for your spouse from 8:00 PM until dawn, when you are exclusively together.

One night in 1990, I visited a pastor friend. I had barely sat down when a delightful aroma engulfed the entire sitting room. I couldn’t help but ask what was producing the fragrance. He told me, “It’s the flowers outside the house.” That was the first time I heard of the “Queen of the Night.”

This flower distinguishes itself by blooming and spreading a striking, sweet fragrance at night, when everything is still and the sense of smell easily picks up scents. Spouses should walk in the “wisdom” of this plant. Bring out the very best version of yourself for the one person you share a bed with.

🎈🎉PRACTICAL BEDTIME PREPARATION
All of this means: brush your teeth and mouth just before bedtime, wear a nightie or pajamas, look sweet, smell sweet, and behave sweetly. Do not come to bed looking or behaving poorly.

In our anchor scripture, the lady said her spouse was sweet-smelling and that she would have him lie between her breasts all night long! Make your husband or wife so impressed with your 8:30 PM appearance that they desire to be close to you all night long.
