FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF LOVE!

Scripture:
‘CHARITY SUFFERETH LONG, AND IS KIND…CHARITY NEVER FAILETH’
(1 CORINTHIANS 13: 4A,8A)

🩷🤍🫘💚💛GOD IS NO WASTER OF WORDS
When, upon instituting marriage in Eden, God said to the first couple, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–5), it was like saying, “The person of your marriage partner is a treasure house that’s worth leaving every other relationship to embrace and never let go. They’ll do you immense good!” And that is indeed who your spouse is: a treasure house, even though they may not look it for now and perhaps for the next ten years or even more.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛A PROPHECY
A queen mother passed a prophecy down to us through her wise son, King Lemuel. Part of that prophecy says: “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies” (Proverbs 31:10). It further says of the goodness that a good wife bears for her husband, “She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life” (Proverbs 31:12).
Now, note that every wife is potentially a virtuous woman. Some manifest the immense load of blessings they bear very early in marriage because of how they were raised. Others may take a bit longer, and that’s where the topic of our message for today comes in.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛RUBIES OR RUBBISH?
When you have a wife or a husband who, instead of bringing forth precious and priceless rubies, is instead filling your life and home with rubbish, don’t discard them as the devil is endlessly urging you. Instead, recognise that it is time to get up and fight the good fight of Love! Why? Because beneath the rubbish you’re seeing lies a massive quarry of “pigeon blood” red rubies, the highest species of rubies!

🩷🤍🫘💚💛GOD FOUGHT THE GOOD FIGHT OF LOVE!
When Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden and inadvertently handed dominion over the earth to Satan, do you have an idea how deeply pained and badly let down God felt? But He didn’t let His feelings dictate His reaction. He was prepared to fight the good fight of Love to save man from the bondage of sin and Satan. To fight that fight was going to be costly—very costly. It would require the incarnation and death of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. But God was ready to pay that great price to fight for the soul of man because He loved man.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛FIGHT FOR WHOM YOU TRULY LOVE
When you sincerely love a person, you just won’t give up on them. You’ll fight fiercely, doggedly, and ferociously not to lose them because they have become too dear to you, despite their imperfections. This should be your position regarding your spouse.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛YOUR SPOUSE IS LIKE CANAAN LAND
Before the children of Israel set foot on the promised land, God again and again let them know that it was an exceptionally good land:
“And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey” (Exodus 3:8a).
At another time, He spoke through Moses, declaring vividly some of the features of that glorious land:
“For the Lord thy God bringeth thee into a good land, a land of brooks of water, of fountains and depths that spring out of valleys and hills; a land of wheat, and barley, and vines, and fig trees, and pomegranates; a land of oil olive, and honey; a land wherein thou shalt eat bread without scarceness, thou shalt not lack any thing in it; a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest dig brass” (Deuteronomy 8:7-9).
But He made it clear that they would not just walk lazily into it and grab portions for themselves. He disclosed to them that the land had occupants—strong nations who had been there for centuries. He let them know that they would have to fight battles to possess those lands.
And they fought and possessed those lands.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛THERE ARE CONTENDERS
Just as there were enemies for the children of Israel to confront and conquer before possessing the land of promise, so also are there enemies that are fiercely fighting so that you don’t enjoy the bounties and goodies your spouse’s life is carrying for you. Some of these enemies are unseen demonic forces, while others are the offensive and irritating behavioural traits that are ingrained in the personality of your spouse. This message is sent by the Lord to let you know that you should not discard your spouse as many have done. Instead, fight the good fight of Love to win and enjoy the fullness of your mate.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛THE BIG LUMP OF BARRENNESS
When Isaac married Rebecca, she exuded beauty, shapeliness, charm, favour, and other qualities. Her arrival brought rivers of comfort and consolation that washed over Isaac, curing him of all the pains that afflicted him as a result of the death of his beloved mother.
But it wasn’t long before an ugly feature was found in Rebecca’s life. That ugly feature was barrenness. Thankfully, after 19 long years, Rebecca’s womb opened and she gave birth to a set of twins. How did it happen? Love did it: Isaac’s love! Long-suffering love, enduring love, hopeful love, selfless love, believing love, unrelenting love, unfailing love, and praying love. Isaac, the husband of Rebecca, fought the good fight of Love, and his wife became a mother.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛USE THE VIRTUES OF LOVE TO FIGHT
The components of love detailed in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 are not just admirable and praiseworthy virtues. They are mighty spiritual weapons. By practically living them out in your relationship with your spouse, you’re fighting the enemies that seek to put you asunder.

🩷🤍🫘💚💛CONCLUSION
There is so much blessing in your marriage that you haven’t yet seen, for the scripture says, “Better is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof: and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit” (Ecclesiastes 7:8). That’s why you must be patient and fight the good fight of Love.
Don’t reject your spouse because of their present inadequacies. Always remember that the stone that the builders reject many times turns out to become the head of the corner. Don’t reject your spouse. Stand with them to the end, and you’ll be glad you did.🫘
