THE SKYSCRAPER OF LOVE
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂Your marriage is like a skyscraper with thousands of rooms and diverse facilities. God’s perfect will is that you and your spouse be an adventurous, ever inquisitive, visionary, and lovey-dovey pair who are never tired of exploring all the rooms and facilities of the great skyscraper of love that offers unending romantic possibilities. When you truly understand this, you’ll know that no one needs extramarital affairs, polygamy, pornography, orgies, wife swapping or any of the other nauseating “dung” the devil serves to adulterers, adulteresses, and other deluded minds as enjoyment.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂THE FRIENDSHIP DIMENSION OF MARRIAGE
Our anchor scripture for today shows a dimension of marriage that most people are completely in the dark about. That dimension is that of FRIENDSHIP.
🪶Let’s take a look at our anchor verse in a few translations for clearer understanding:
“His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” (Song of Solomon 5:16; KJV)
“His kisses are sweet. I desire him so much! Young women of Jerusalem, he is my lover and friend.” (Song of Solomon 5:16; CEV)
“His mouth is most sweet: Yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, yea, this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.” (Song of Solomon 5:16; DARBY).
“His mouth is full of sweetness; Yes, he is altogether lovely and desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”(Song of Solomon 5:16; AMP)
🌽From these translations, we can easily see that the person speaking is a lady. But this lady is different. She is not bound by the shackles of shame, nor is she timid and tongue-tied. She has a liberated mind that sees love, romance, and sexuality in the legitimate context of marriage for what they truly are: pure and immaculate blessings of God. She therefore boldy sings about them, declaring clearly how her spouse’s mouth is literally so sweet. She goes on to say that he is “altogether lovely”, “he is altogether lovely and desirable”. As one of the translations puts it: “I desire him so much.” The lady boldly declared him as her lover and friend. Why? Because they weren’t just spouses covenanted to lifelong love; they also saw themselves as friends. This is how it should be in your union. This is Biblical Marriage.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂CHRIST AND THE CHURCH
Do you know that Christ and the church are not just “the Saviour and the saved”, “the Redeemer and the redeemed”, or “Lord and disciples”? Even before going to the Cross, Jesus moved the Church to the rank or status of “Friends.” Please read:
“Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.” (John 15:15). So Christ and the Church are on the level of friends. There is that dimension in your marriage also, and you need to begin to operate in it in the earnest.
🫛Now, consider what Jesus said above: a servant is in the dark about some of the activities of his master. Is it not common? A mechanic wants to carry out a very important repair which he does not want his apprentice to witness. What does he do? He sends him on an errand that would keep him occupied somewhere else for two hours. Or he may dismiss him for the day, and the apprentice goes home rejoicing about a sudden “day off” given him by his “very kind master.” But in covenant friendships, friends share deep secrets with each other in mutual confidence and trust.
🚂In your marriage, you and your spouse are more than just husband and wife. You are covenant friends and should be open to each other on EVERYTHING, just as Christ and the church are open to each other in all things.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂A UNIQUE FRIENDSHIP
The lady who spoke the words of our anchor scripture said of her lover-friend:
“His mouth is most sweet” (KJV)
“His kisses are sweet” (CEV).
“His mouth is full of sweetness”(AMP)
🍇What can you deduce from her comments above? They show that she and her spouse were apparently an ardently romantic pair. Put bluntly, they were both fabulous kissers. They were not the kind of couple who are so loaded with myths, superstitions and traditions that they’re ever romantically foot dragging and reticent.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂KEEP THE FLAMES BURNING
When you read the Song of Solomon from the beginning to the end, you can’t miss the “vibe”. I mean, the strong perception that, indeed, the pair were deeply in love. This is what it should be in every marriage.
🍍You may be grandparents or even great-grandparents already. But the love between you and your spouse should be apparently unmistakable.
🌶️Always remember this: marriage is a love affair that never grows old.
🔥As spouses, keep stoking the fire of your passion and affection for each other. Don’t let the flames go out.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂SHARING IN ONE ANOTHER’S INTERESTS
One of the marks of true friendship is that the friends take interest in one another’s interests even if they naturally don’t really like that game, sport, or enterprise. In our illustrative picture for today is a wife in her rabbit farm and her husband visiting the farm to support her. This is a demonstration of friendship in marriage: identifying with your mate in their gifts, talents, profession, calling or business ventures.
🪵🪶🌽🫛🍇🚂CONCLUSION
Yes, you are husband and wife, but don’t be caged in that identity. Embrace today’s teaching and practice friendship with your spouse in your marriage.
🪵Your wife is your girlfriend, woman friend and sugar baby.
🥑And madam, your husband is your boyfriend, man friend and sugar daddy.
🍉Viewing each other with this kind of mindset, keeps your union young and lively!🚂🍇
