🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾As we come to the end of the GOD’S WORD TRANSFORMS BEDROOMS devotional teaching series today, we are looking at the three important commandments encapsulated in our anchor Scripture for the day.
🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾DO NOT REFUSE YOUR SPOUSE SEX EXCEPT…
Our anchor Scripture for today begins by commanding spouses not to turn down their partner’s request for sex. The one and only exception is when they have both consciously agreed to refrain from sexual intimacy because one or both of them is embarking on a prayer-and-fasting retreat.
🥑🥑Dearly beloved, you will do well to always remember that this is no proposition, motion, suggestion, or recommendation for your careful consideration and decision. It is an order from above. It is from the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ, and it is for the compliance of all married couples who are in His Body, irrespective of their individual rank, position, distinct spiritual calling, or level of busyness.
🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾THE LAMP OF PASSION AND MARRIAGE BEDS AGLOW!
It means that God wants to see the “lamp of passion” always aglow in your union. He wants your matrimonial bedroom to always be gently aflame with the merry ambience of sexual intimacy.
🫛🫛Even when your children are grown and “flown” from home and already have families of their own, see to it that your matrimonial bedroom is always aglow with romantic energy and the warmth of nightly passion. If the devil tells you, as he is sure to do, that you are too old, tell him that you are just a boy compared to Father Abraham, who married at the age of over one hundred and forty and had a steamy bedroom life with Keturah.
🍍🍍In marriage, the only time God accepts that you proceed on an “abstinence from sex leave” is when one or both of you is with Him in the Spirit through fasting and prayer. And this must have been agreed upon by both of you.
🍒🍒However, whenever your mate is incapacitated by a health challenge, physical tiredness and exhaustion, or any other genuine reason, you must walk in LOVE and leave them alone until they can resume sexual intimacy.
🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾DEFRAUDING: A GRIEVOUS BEDROOM CRIME
Please note the serious word concerning crime with which our anchor Scripture begins. That word is “DEFRAUD.”
🍐🍐To defraud means to illegally take money, property, or rights from a person, company, or organisation by using trickery, lies, or deception. God picked this word and used it deliberately in our anchor Scripture for today. Why? Because He is fully aware of the underhanded or subtle methods many spouses are using to seize, steal, or withhold sexual intimacy from their marriage partners.
🍎🍎Meanwhile, the Bible says:
“Thou shalt not steal” (Exodus 20:15).
🥥🥥It also says:
“Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.” (Proverbs 3:27–28)
🍇🍇By Exodus 20:15, God commands you not to steal anything that belongs to your spouse, including their sexual rights. And by Proverbs 3:27–28, He commands you not to withhold sexual intimacy from your spouse or postpone it until a time of your convenience.
🍠🍠Why? Because sexual intimacy isn’t something in some distant place. It’s not hidden in the bank, neither do you need to get to a POS centre before you can give it to your mate. It’s something you have with you 24/7.
🫘🫘Yet some spouses are so cruel that they refuse their partners this matrimonial ministry for seven years or even longer, and they still go to church, speak in tongues, and boldly serve at the altar of God. They even assume that they are on their way to the New Jerusalem!
🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾YOU MAY BAMBOOZLE YOUR HAPLESS MATE BUT NOT GOD
What does defrauding imply in our anchor text? It implies swindling, cheating, scamming, and fleecing your mate of sexual intimacy through tricks, lies, or religious pretensions.
🍳🍳Good news: you may successfully hoodwink or bamboozle your mate into accepting your lies, but not God. He keeps meticulous records of the heartbreaks you inflict on your mate each time you turn them away despite their gentle pleadings.
🎀🎈🤎🎂🍾AFTER FASTING, GET BACK TO LOVE
The third message in our anchor verse is this: after you are done with fasting, promptly resume sexual intimacy with your spouse.
🌽🌽Let’s consider a few things.
🥭🥭Did God enjoy your fellowship with Him as you worshipped through prayer and fasting? Of course, He did. But once you have ended the retreat, He wants you to resume your bedroom life in earnest.
🍗🍗His reasons? Firstly, you lack the capacity to stay away from sexual intimacy indefinitely. Secondly, there is an enemy—Satan—who is constantly on your trail, seeking to bring you down through a fatal sexual scandal.
🍛🍛Never, for any reason, assume that because you had a forty-day-and-forty-night fast, you have suddenly overcome the flesh and become “Superman.” No.
🍜🍜Remember that Moses fasted for forty days and forty nights. Yet, when he got to the foot of the mountain and saw the idolatry of the children of Israel, he lost control of his emotions and angrily threw down the tablets of stone that the Lord had given him, and they were broken.
🫓🫓So, heed God’s Word: after every retreat, promptly resume sexual intimacy. It is wisdom, not carnality.🎀🤎
