🍫💖🥑💙🫒🫛🤎Dear spouses, your bodies are major instruments for exploring, building, renewing, and maintaining your mutual love lives as a couple. They are the means of re-enacting your unity as one flesh, an activity that takes place through sexual intimacy.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎LACK OF CONFIDENCE
However, when a man or woman is not confident about their body but is instead ashamed, embarrassed, or dissatisfied with it, they definitely cannot make the best or optimum use of it during times of love fellowship. This is exactly what is happening with many in their marriages. One spouse is not satisfied with their body and therefore feels inadequate, hesitant, and uneasy when naked.
🍫But the truth is this: nothing is wrong with them. It is the enemy, even Satan, that has lied to them and robbed them of confidence in their bodies. By God’s grace, we shall be looking at that matter today.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎WHO’S ASHAMED OF A CATHEDRAL?
The first cathedral I entered in my life was St. Boniface Catholic Cathedral at Idah, Kogi State, in the Middle Belt region of Nigeria.
🥑During my childhood, I knew of no better sanctuary. It was in that church that I received the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. It had a classical cathedral roofing design, done by master builders who, I suppose, were brought in from outside Nigeria. The roofing sheets were asbestos, and the woodwork of the roof was spectacular and always a delight to behold from inside during worship.
💙It was when I grew older that I saw bigger and more imposing church edifices. One thing was common to them all: the worshippers were not ashamed of them. They were instead proud of them because they knew that they were no huts, shacks, or shanties that one would feel ashamed to bring a visitor to.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎THE MOST MAGNIFICENT CATHEDRAL
Dear spouse, do you know that your body is the biggest, most magnificent, most fascinating, and most beautiful cathedral on earth?
🫒The human body is a cathedral constructed by no less a builder than God Almighty Himself, and He made it in His image and likeness!
🫛From science and its limited knowledge, we learn that the human body has 263 bones; 600 muscles; 970 miles of blood vessels; 400 taste buds on the tongue; 29,000 hairs in the ears to tune in to all sounds; 40 lb. (pounds) of jaw pressure; 10,000,000 nerves and branches; 40 miles of sweat tubes; 20,000,000 mouths that suck food as it passes through the intestines; and 600,000,000 air cells that inhale air.
🤎The penis has 4,000 nerve endings in its glans. The clitoris has over 10,000 nerve endings in its glans alone, while there are more than 15,000 nerve endings in the woman’s pelvis. These statistics are just a tip of the iceberg of the realities of the human body. There is so much that scientists have yet to know about the human body.
🍫Yet, we find in our anchor Scripture that the Psalmist, by divine inspiration, knew several thousand years ago that his body was extraordinary, incredible, and astounding. He knew that he was fearfully and wonderfully crafted and that he was a marvel, a wonder, and a prodigy on earth.
🥑This is no surprise because God’s Word says that we are “gods”:
📖“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” (Psalm 82:6)
💙And in John 10:34–36, Jesus confirmed this Scripture, endorsing the validity of our being “gods” because we are children of God. If you are a “god,” why should you be ashamed of your body, which is a part of your godhood and also part of God’s image in you (Genesis 1:26–27)? It is absolutely uncalled for.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎YOU’RE NOT ANY LESS MARVELLOUS
If the Psalmist, who did not have the detailed information about the body contained in the subsection above, THE MOST MAGNIFICENT CATHEDRAL, was confident about his body, how much more confident about your own body should you be after reading the facts in the last subsection?
🫒The truth is that, as human beings, we are just not ordinary.
🫛And you need to know that we were created by God, not for ourselves, but for His own pleasure (Revelation 4:11). That is why we have different bodily shapes, heights, skin textures, hair distribution on the body, etc. But one factor is common to us all, no matter our race or outward appearance: no one is better than the other; we are all fearfully and wonderfully made.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎ONE DAY AT A PRINTING PRESS
I remember being at a printing press to get something printed for ministry work. While I waited in the company’s reception room, I heard one of the female workers express a wish to have her buttocks made bigger and more protruding if she had the opportunity to undergo cosmetic surgery!
💖You do not need to be told that, despite her personal bodily endowments, this lady was feeling inadequate about her buttocks. She felt deficient and flawed when she was actually perfect.
🤎No one needs to be a particular way to be a good lover and spouse to their marriage partner. Like the Psalmist in our anchor Scripture for today, be grateful and thankful to God for creating you exactly as you are, for you were fearfully and wonderfully made, just like the Psalmist.
🍫🥑💙🫒🫛💖🤎CONCLUSION: BE CONFIDENT AND BOLD ABOUT YOUR BODY!
The Bible tells us that the righteous are bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1). Exactly what triggers this uncommon boldness? Knowledge is the trigger.
🍫Jesus said:
📖“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)
🥑Your body is a mighty and glorious cathedral constructed by God Himself. And if you are born again, your body is already the temple of the Holy Spirit, and He dwells in you 24/7 (1 Corinthians 6:19).
💙Why should you be ashamed of such a fascinating and glorious temple, tabernacle, and cathedral in which God dwells?
🫒From this moment forward, never, ever be ashamed of your body again when naked! Boldly and freely use it during every time of intimacy with your spouse, knowing that it is a glorious body that is unique and special because it is the only one of its kind throughout the earth.🫒🫛
