🏀🏉🥔🤎What triggers a bachelor to take an interest in a spinster is love. From the moment they agree to marry each other, that catalyst called love manifests itself between them in diverse ways, ranging from giving one another attention and quickly responding to each other’s cries to willingly forgiving each other when necessary. All these things keep the relationship going smoothly until they finally tie the knot and become husband and wife.
🏀🏉🥔🤎FROM WISDOM TO FOOLISHNESS
At a point in his ministry, St. Paul had to be very blunt with the Galatians, who foolishly swerved off the glorious path of faith onto the perilous and soul-damning legalisms of Judaism:
📖“O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
📖Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?” (Galatians 3:1, 3).
🏉The same kind of strong words is exactly what many spouses need to hear today for stopping to walk in practical love with each other and backpedalling or backsliding into quarrelling, irresponsibility, contention, hardness of heart, and, worst of all, extramarital affairs, instead of continuing to love each other as they did in the early days of their relationship, when they were younger.
🏀🏉🥔🤎THE WEEK I WROTE SEVEN LETTERS
During my courtship with my late wife, I wrote her one letter per day for seven consecutive days at a particular point in time, and the letters all arrived at her local church on the same Sunday.
🤎At the end of the service, the congregation was told to hold on because some letters would be announced. As God would have it, as the announcement proceeded, the seven letters were announced one after another. Just imagine one girl going out seven times to receive her letters! The entire church burst into a cheerful round of applause!
🥔I have told this story before in Lovebirds’ Devotional. I posted each letter on the day I wrote it, meaning that I went to the post office seven consecutive days. Similarly, she stood up and walked to the front of the church seven times to collect the letters. But what I have never added is that I wrote the first of those letters on my knees. Why? Because I was intensely and deeply in love with her.
🏀The truth is that virtually every couple has an amazing story to tell about how intensely they loved each other during courtship. Some of those stories may even outshine mine, as detailed above. But the big question is: Why did you stop those sweet ways of treating and esteeming one another? Why? Oh, why?
🏀🏉🥔🤎COME OUT OF THE “BEWITCHMENT”!!!
When the Galatians gave heed to the Judaizers and forsook the path of faith, St. Paul referred to it as “bewitchment.” Note, however, that it was not the kind of bewitchment carried out through sorcery or witchcraft covens, but an unfortunate, self-made choice to act foolishly after having demonstrated sense and wisdom.
🏉What they needed was not a prayer of exorcism or deliverance, but a strong rebuke delivered in love, which is exactly what St. Paul did in the verses cited above. And that is precisely what every spouse who started with the wisdom of loving their mate in the early days of their relationship but has now turned away into a life of betrayal needs to hear.
🤎Sir/Ma, do you not know that by breaking your marriage vows, you have belittled, downsized, and reduced yourself? Even the man or woman you are going out with knows that you are a turncoat and a traitor and will not trust you deep down in their heart.
🥔Sir/Ma, do you not think it is time to redeem what remains of your battered image and reputation?
🏀🏉🥔🤎TIME TO RETURN TO THOSE SWEET, LOVING DAYS
The main preoccupation of spouses as legitimate and divinely licensed lovers is to be in love with each other round the clock. Sure enough, your spouse is not perfect. But neither are you! God knows you are both imperfect, but He is confident that you can love each other and gradually outgrow your present deficiencies, becoming a far more compatible pair as you humbly and consistently walk the path of practically loving one another every day.
🏀The secret to being in love with each other 24/7 is to return to doing those nice, considerate, and thoughtful things you used to do for each other during courtship and the early days of your marriage.
🏉Our anchor Scripture tells us not to love in words but in DEED and in TRUTH. It is talking about performing practical acts of love that your spouse can see. This goes beyond calling each other “Bae,” “Honey,” or “Sweetheart” while being dangerous and murderous hypocrites!
🤎I have watched with consternation videos of married women caught red-handed in bed with other men, yet shamelessly saying, “Bae, it’s not as you think. I can explain!” How do you explain being caught naked in bed with two men?
🏀🏉🥔🤎CONCLUSION
In our world today, many couples make it seem as though marriage is a scam, a hoax, and a rip-off because of their wicked ways. But what God painstakingly instituted in Eden can never be a scam.
🏉Marriage is one of the simplest things. All you need to do is practically love each other and live your married life according to the Word of God, and you will find that it is a sweet colony of heaven on earth! 🤎🥔

📚📖✒️Quotes For Reflection:
“In Marriage, one of the things Spouses need to attend to very early in their covenant relationship is Spousal Addiction. I define Spousal Addiction as a very strong physical, emotional and romantic fondness and bonding between husband and wife, that makes them ceaselessly cherish and long for each other sexually and romantically; such that no one else is desirous to them but their Mate.”(From Lovebirds’ Devotional, December 2, 2024)
