🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵Discord, strife, and conflict between spouses come mostly as a result of walking in the flesh.
🩵When a couple walk in the flesh, they cannot but “bite and devour” each other, as the Bible says (Galatians 5:15).
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵UNDERGIRD YOUR LOVE LIFE
For a couple to walk in love and unity consistently with each other, their individual or personal lives must be undergirded by a strong and stable spiritual life characterised by a daily walk of faith, a walk in the Spirit, faithful feeding on the Word of God, and a sound personal prayer life.
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵A PERSONAL REVIVAL
Walking in the Spirit produces revival, and revival sanitises life and fills it with the fear of God, resulting in tenderness of heart and sensitivity to one’s spouse.
💎Walking in the flesh, on the other hand, hardens the heart, making spouses calloused, harsh, and unkind to one another without caring about the harm they are doing.
🥏Revival creates a heart that is conscious of the need to be loving, kind, and compassionate towards one’s spouse.
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵AN EXEMPLARY COUPLE
One good example of a couple whose love lives were undergirded by a healthy and stable spiritual life is Joseph and Mary, the couple to whom God entrusted Jesus Christ our Lord to parent and raise.
🚙Going through the pages of Scripture, one can easily see that each of the two—Joseph and Mary—had a sound and strong personal walk with God. Mary was not a worldly girl who was spiritually tiptoeing behind Joseph on the path of godliness, and neither was Joseph a carnal young man being led to follow God by Mary. Each of them was godly and pious in their own right.
💧As a result, when the storm of the trial of Joseph’s faith in God and love for Mary arose over Mary’s pregnancy, Joseph was able to prevail because he was spiritual, was full of the fear of God, and truly loved Mary. He hated to harm her in any way.
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵NOT MERE SYNAGOGUE MEMBERS
From the solid spiritual content of their lives as a young man and a young lady, respectively, it is obvious that Joseph and Mary were not ordinary bench warmers in the synagogue. Each of them had a sound personal walk with God. This was at a time when the chief priests, priests, Levites, Pharisees, and Sadducees, who led worship in the synagogues, were hypocrites!
🥏Joseph and Mary each led a godly personal life, and their marriage was blissful. You can walk in their footsteps and enjoy a blissful marriage too.
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵DON’T JUST BE MARRIED, BE A PILGRIM!
Whether we like it or not, each spouse brings who they are into marriage.
🩵If you are heaven-minded, love-driven, committed to pursuing holiness, and averse to sin, it is that personality you will bring into your daily interactions with your spouse: a personality that is harmless and blameless:
📖“ That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:15).
🥏🥏🥏🩵🥏🥏🥏🩵CONCLUSION
Spouses, though married to each other, should not forget that their personal union with Christ comes first. Each of them needs to prioritise their personal pilgrimage and heavenly race. The sense of commitment and seriousness in their personal spiritual pilgrimage will invariably be reflected in their marriage, as they will not be willing to do anything that will jeopardise their heavenly race and cause them to miss eternity with Jesus.
⛲Spouses who cheat on their partners, bully their mates, trade sexual intimacy in marriage, and engage in similar behaviours simply scream out loud exactly where they belong: in the camp described in Galatians 5:19–21. Those who dwell in this camp “shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:21).
🛢️So, make your choice today.
💎Choose to be a spouse who walks in the Spirit and whose spirituality is manifested in a loving and godly relationship with their marriage partner. 🥏🩵
