🧱🦋🤎Once you’re married, you need to realise that you are in the closest relationship possible. You must, at all times, be conscious of the fact that marriage isn’t like most other relationships because it is a covenant love union. It is a romantic life-long union.
🧱🦋🤎MIND YOUR LANGUAGE
Marriage is a replication of the life in the Garden of Eden. And, this being so, you must both avoid gutter language like a plague!
🥑It’s not street life, gangster life, nor is it a brothel life. Therefore, you must both avoid obscene, foul, wild, and uncouth language. Why? Because your words make or mar your world—in this instance, your marriage world.
🧱🦋🤎A KING AND A QUEEN, A PATRIARCH AND A MATRIARCH
God’s Word classifies marriage as honourable (Hebrews 13:4a). By this divine classification, spouses are not ordinary, plain, or pedestrian individuals in society. They are honourable.
🍉Not only that, they are the holders of authority in the first estate of human government: the home. This invariably means that you and your spouse, as a married couple, are the king and queen of the realm of your home and family. Being occupants of such a position in God’s sight, you are not, as already indicated, plebeians, hoi polloi, or ordinary folks. You must, therefore, not talk, chatter, prattle, or babble like ordinary people do.
🧱🦋🤎MIND WHAT YOU SAY
The Bible commands us to be swift to hear but slow to speak:
“Wherefore, my beloved brethren, LET EVERY MAN BE SWIFT TO HEAR, SLOW TO SPEAK, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).
🥭This command is to every man, meaning that it is binding on every human being, whether male or female, old or young.
🍉Wherever you are—in the sitting room, in the bedroom, or when you’ve stripped and are about to make love; when you’re in the heat of excitement as the stimulation from each other reaches its crescendo—mind what you say.
🥥The Bible testifies of the Virtuous Woman:
“She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness” (Proverbs 31:26).
🍇Her words are thoughtful, sensible, and guided by God rather than by foolishness or anger.
🍐For her, kindness isn’t just an act of philanthropy; it is a ruling principle—a “law” that governs how she speaks to others.
🧱🦋🤎THE FOLLY OF TALKING ABOUT YOUR “EX”
Remember, our anchor scripture is basically about falling into disrepute as a result of a seemingly insignificant lapse or error.
🍎Sadly, some have brought their marriages to an end, or almost so, by their acts of mentioning or even praising their ex. It’s one of the most foolish things to do in a marriage.
🍅No matter how kind, good, or benevolent your ex is or was, once you’re married, they must be dead to your heart, mind, body, and consciousness. To still scroll back to them by phone, through thoughts, or through words is emotional transgression.
🧱🦋🤎THE FOLLY OF CALLING YOUR EX’S NAME DURING INTIMACY
Several marriages have been fractured, and some completely destroyed, by the act of a wife or husband moaning the name of their ex during sexual intimacy with their spouse. Whether you call it a mistake or a slip of the tongue, it’s a very terrible act that you can’t easily defend or expect your partner to thoughtlessly dismiss. Why? Because the Bible is very clear on how the mouth works. It says:
“For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34b).
🍞Before the mouth speaks on a subject, the heart has premeditated, pondered, and dwelt on it. In fact, the heart’s file on that subject is already full, and so it spills out through the mouth.
🧱🦋🤎A WIFE MOANED HER MARRIAGE INTO EXTINCTION
One night, a husband was happily making love with his wife. In the heat of the excitement, he suddenly heard her moan out audibly and very clearly the name of her ex.
🧀He decided to probe into that rather awkward incident. He found out from an App in her phone that she was in serious touch with the man, to the extent of exchanging nudes with him while living under his roof(her husband’s house) and eating his food! The outcome of that overexcited moaning? The husband divorced her!
🍐When a husband or wife moans the name of a former sexual partner while in bed with their spouse, it’s a strong billow of dark smoke that tells of a fire somewhere!
🧱🦋🤎CONCLUSION: TOUCHING IS ALSO COMMUNICATING
As a couple, always remember that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Proverbs 18:21). In other words, your utterances carry either death or life; and you must, therefore, mind what you say to each other.
🍗It’s not a must to talk when you really have nothing edifying to talk about.
🍛That doesn’t mean you cannot sit down together silently. You can sit down together and simply touch each other. Touching is another effective and impactful way of communicating with each other. It is better to touch, embrace, hug, and cuddle silently than to babble and hurt one another.
🥧In marriage, if you want your union to retain it’s original heavenly and ambrosial fragrance, you must both mind your words.🤎🧱
