DEFEND YOUR MARRIAGE AT ALL COST

Scripture:
‘BE SOBER, BE VIGILANT; BECAUSE YOUR ADVERSARY THE DEVIL, AS A ROARING LION, WALKETH ABOUT, SEEKING WHOM HE MAY DEVOUR’
(1 PETER 5:8)

🎷🎸Over four decades ago, I worshipped in a church where the leader had a strong and vibrant marriage.

Before joining this church, I had known several other anointed preachers, but not one of them was as openly proud of his spouse as this clergyman.

In the heat of an invigorating sermon, he would pause and ask his wife to stand up. When she did, he would announce to the congregation how beautiful she was! And you know what? No one could argue with his claims because she was indeed beautiful. She possessed a pure, natural beauty.

🎷🎸A HEART OVERFLOWING WITH LOVE
Each time he did this, no one was offended or felt he was being carnal by bringing the mundane into the spiritual. It was obvious to everyone that he loved his wife, and the overflow of that love was what we all saw displayed in church. At the time, I was still unmarried, but I could not help but admire the love he had for his wife. He was so proud of her that he couldn’t keep it to himself; he wanted everyone in his personal world to know it!

🎷🎸AND THEN THE ENEMY STRUCK
But about twenty years later, news came that the beautiful marriage had crashed. The man had married a new wife who, after a short while, forsook him—leaving him without a spouse.

Do you still need to be told that what happened to that marriage was a carefully plotted spiritual plan from the realms of darkness to hit the ministry of that man and subvert it? That is exactly what eventually happened.
Once the marriage was hit, the ministry gradually folded up.

🎷🎸DEFEND YOUR MARRIAGE AT ALL COSTS
Dearly beloved, the day you got married, your spouse became a part of whatever God has given you to make you useful to Him and a blessing to men. You must, therefore, protect, defend, and jealously keep your marriage.

Yes, you will discover some unpleasant, undesirable, and unlovely traits in your mate, but you must be wise enough to know that there is no physical gift from God that doesn’t have some aspects you won’t quite like. You must be wise enough to realize that even the “undesirable” part of God’s gift serves a purpose. You don’t have to “use” the rough parts, but do not let their presence make you reject the gift entirely.

🎷🎸WHEN GOD GIVES YOU A PINEAPPLE
When God gives you a pineapple, the rough exterior isn’t edible, but you would be a fool to reject it because of that outer shell. God isn’t giving you the exterior to eat, but the sweet goodness that is “wrapped” by the roughness.

What is the “roughness” in your spouse’s life? Don’t be fooled into discarding them because of it. If you do, you will make one of the costliest mistakes of your life—one you may never recover from.

🎷🎸HOLD FAST YOUR MATRIMONIAL CROWN
Finally, hear this: That person you are thinking of marrying after divorcing your spouse is only a bait the devil is dangling before you. It is a trap to make you walk out of the cozy place of love and affection that is your marriage.

Chances are that not long after you have left your spouse for them, they will kick you in the groin and walk out on you. Be wise. Hold fast to your matrimonial crown—your spouse!

📚📖✒️ Quotes For Reflection:
”Your marriage bed is a workplace. It’s the place where you perform the commands of several scriptures, including 1 Corinthians 7:3-5. It’s therefore a workplace and a duty post. It’s a place of ministration. It’s the precinct for life-giving services that nurture and nourish you and your spouse.”

🌡️⚗️ Scientific Info to Boost Your Marriage:
“Kissing triggers the brain to release a cocktail of chemicals—including oxytocin (‘the love hormone’), dopamine, and serotonin—that induce feelings of pleasure, euphoria, and bonding. Simultaneously, it lowers cortisol levels, which reduces stress and anxiety.”
