🌈🍎🌾No marriage is hopeless. No spouses are incompatible. No couple is having marital problems “because they married too young.” And no marriage is nonworking because “the spouses married too soon and too hurriedly, without having a reasonably lengthy courtship.”
When we say things like these, we forget that Isaac and Rebecca had a most successful marriage without one moment’s courtship (Genesis 24). Christian spiritual giants like Evangelist T. L. Osborne and his wife, Daisy Osborne, married at the tender ages of 18 and 17 respectively and had a good marriage that lasted 53 years, along with a successful ministry that stormed the world with miracle crusades spanning decades!
Other such couples include George and Elizabeth Müller, who ran a great orphanage by faith in England, General William and Catherine Booth of the Salvation Army and Jonathan and Sarah Edwards who married at the age 24 and 17 respectively.
🌈🍎🌾IF MADAM WASN’T RAPED AND ROPED INTO MARRIAGE…
Sir/Ma, if your marriage was not forced or schemed into existence by sexual trickery, coercion, or manipulation but happened with the willing and full consent of each of you, then know assuredly that you have no problems. Your union can survive the present storms and grow to become an inspiration to thousands of struggling married couples as well as mature singles who aspire to get married.
🌈🍎🌾A SURVIVAL AND GROWTH SECRET
In our anchor scripture for today lies a great secret by which any marriage can not only survive but grow luxuriantly to its fullest stature, to the shock and amazement of pessimists.
In John 12:24, the “marriage” of the earth and the grain of wheat never takes place unless each of them submits to the other! That’s the starting point: mutual submission. All arrogance and haughtiness must be cast off. The air of superiority and dominance must be put off like a dirty and malodorous vest. Yes, that condescending attitude of treating your partner as if they are less intelligent, less capable, or inferior—often speaking down to them—must be sincerely repented of and forsaken. The grain of wheat must come down from the comfort of the storeroom in the big house and fall prostrate in the earth and therein die!
🌈🍎🌾THE EARTH MUST HUMBLE ITSELF ALSO
The earth must allow its hairs (vegetation) to be “shaved” and its smooth face “disfigured” with ridges. The earth must also endure “the indignity” of opening its “mouth” for the seed to be accommodated therein. And the seed must endure being “buried” in the earth and being completely separated from life above the earth. And then it dies alone and abandoned in the earth. It is after all these that the miracle of a new life and growth begins. And during harvest some months later, the earth (farm) and seed (now a big harvest) are celebrated. The farm gains new respect and so does the seed.
🌈🍎🌾WALK IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF THE CORN OF WHEAT AND THE EARTH
Your marriage can survive every storm it is facing today. It can grow into a gigantic “Oak of Love.” But you need to walk in the footsteps of the seed of wheat and the earth.
The Bible commands:
“Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God” (Ephesians 5:21). You cannot go far in marriage without humbly submitting to one another. Hear ye the Word of the Lord:
“Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
With the spirit of mutual submission and unselfishness, there is no mountain you cannot climb, no tunnel you cannot successfully walk through as a couple, and no river that you cannot cross.
🌈🍎🌾CONCLUSION
By mutual submission and unselfishness, the seed of wheat and the earth “marry” and cleave to each other for months and produce a glorious harvest that feeds millions. So also can you and your spouse, by mutual submission and unselfishness, cleave to each other and end up enjoying a marriage that lasts 70 years or even longer, leaving a legacy that will inspire your children and future generations.🌾

“And husbands, the command to love your wife supremely is not aimed at weakening your natural image as a man. God gave your wife a nature that responds to love. The deeper and more sacrificial your love, the more she is wowed and wooed to adore you!”(Anselm Ahman. Lovebirds’ Devotional, May 1, 2026)
