🌾🌾🍞🎂🍮🥧🥐If you want a happy marriage, you need to always remember that the primary reason God instituted marriage was to wipe away man’s aloneness and replace it with another kind of life: an existence that bubbles with companionship, connectedness, intimacy, emotional support, and invigorating fellowship. That life is marriage.
🌾🌾🍞🎂🍮🥧🥐 HIDDEN SECRET
In our anchor scripture, we find the great secret for successfully kicking out aloneness and enjoying a fulfilling marriage as God intended—a marriage that pulsates with electrifying companionship, sweet connectedness, enriching sexual intimacy, loving emotional support, consistent conviviality, and camaraderie.
🌾🌾🍞🎂🍮🥧🥐MANY MARRIAGES OPERATING BELOW THEIR POTENTIAL
When you assess many marriages by the content of the last paragraph, you’ll realise that most marriages are operating far below their potential. The reason is the non-implementation of the spiritual secret of growth and massive fruitfulness embedded in our anchor scripture for today. We shall take a closer look at that scripture again and thereafter see how it should be lived out in marriage.
“Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” (John 12:24)
🌾🌾🍞🎂🍮🥧🥐FALL, GO UNDER, AND DIE!
Wheat is the world’s most widely consumed cereal grain. Every loaf of bread you enjoy with smiles at the breakfast table didn’t drop from the skies. It came from the union of the Seed of Wheat and the Earth, “who,” by mutual submission and unselfishness, brought forth massive harvests to feed nations. All the delicious cakes, munchy chinchin, sweet doughnuts, crackers, biscuits, waffles, noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, etc., come from the union of the Seed of Wheat and the Earth, who threw their ego and individuality aside and united to perform the will of God.
To have a successful and massively fruitful marriage, you need to use the wisdom secret of the Seed of Wheat and the Earth that is in our anchor scripture. Here’s how.
🥧🥐(a) FALL LIKE THE SEED OF THE WHEAT
You start by falling. Hahahaha, sounds silly, right? But the truth is you gotta fall to rise! Yes. Remember, your courtship began by the two of you falling in love with each other. So there’s nothing odd about falling further so that your union will be sweeter, stronger, and more consolidated.
This time “falling” means: humble yourself, descend, step down from the lofty invisible throne of Self and Individuality. Why? Because you now have someone with whom to share your life and vice versa.
🥧🥐(b) GO INTO THE GROUND
Nobody will see you do this because it’s not physical. So you don’t need to fear getting embarrassed. It’s all between you and your spouse. Getting into the “ground” implies being self-effacing, humble, and meek. It further means: stop seeking the limelight, visibility, and noticeability! Stop thinking in terms of “Me,” “I,” and “My.” Think of your spouse first before you think of yourself. That’s true love.
🥧🥐(c) DIE
Let go of your self-seeking, magisterial, domineering, unfeeling, insensitive, and manipulative self. Why? Because unless you do this, your egotistic, haughty, and proud self will be a problem to your marriage.
Marriage is a relationship with an adult, mature, and intelligent person of the opposite gender who sees you at a very close range, reads you faster than you think, and expects nothing but the best conduct from you. So you must let every negative trait in you die so as to have a successful and peaceful union with them.
🌾🌾🍞🎂🍮🥧🥐 SUPPORTING TRUTHS
The secret of growth and fruitfulness in John 12:24 is backed by Genesis 2:24. In that verse, spouses are commanded to do two things. First, leave father and mother. This is similar to the demand on the Seed of Wheat to leave the comfort of the storeroom and go lie down in the farm. It isn’t easy, but it leads to a beautiful future as the Seed of Wheat later becomes a huge cake, loaves of bread, a meal of spaghetti, etc., that are cherished across the globe.
Secondly, spouses are commanded in Genesis 2:24 to cleave to each other. This is basically sexual intimacy. This implies stripping completely naked for another and opening the most secret parts of your body for them. But obedience to this command makes the spouses one flesh, strengthens their bond, and gives them offspring that carry on their legacy after they’re gone. Therefore, obedience to our anchor scripture and Genesis 2:24 will make your marriage successful par excellence.
