🌄🌹🪘🤎There is nothing wrong with a wife being a woman of strong personality who is vastly gifted. However, it becomes worrisome and wrong when such a wife, instead of functioning in her divinely assigned calling as a helper to her husband, chooses to be an opposer, a contender, and worse still, a usurper.
Who is a usurper? A usurper is someone who takes the position, power, or title of another person by force, subtlety, or through underhanded schemes. Two Biblical examples of such women easily come to mind: Jezebel and Herodias.
🌄🌹🪘🤎THE PURPOSE OF THE WOMAN
The woman was created for one singular purpose: to be a helper to man (Genesis 2:18). In the original Hebrew text of Genesis 2:18, the word for helper is “Ezer,” and it means: an agent of rescue, a strong helper, and a strong power. Nothing in the word “Ezer” points to weakness, timidity, or frailty.
So, long before the woman was created, God already had in mind that she would be a powerful personality—one capable of lifting the man up (not physically, though) and carrying him off to safety in the event of a fall (Ecclesiastes 4:10).
🌄🌹🤎🪘PROMISE FULFILLED!
And when God created the woman from the rib of the man, He made her exactly what He had promised: an “Ezer”—an agent of rescue, a strong helper, and a strong power. That is what every wife is, irrespective of her stature, age, education, or lack thereof.
🌄🌹🪘🤎UNDERSTANDING GOD’S KIND OF HELPERS
To have a proper understanding of this teaching, it is important to know that when God gives a helper, He never sends a feeble, weak, or cowardly personality.
When He sent helpers to David while he was on the run from King Saul, what kind of men were they? Weaklings? Spineless and fainthearted men? Never! He sent 600 men who were dreadful warriors; some of them even looked like lions! (1 Chronicles 12:8).
When, on the eve of His crucifixion, Christ promised to send the disciples a helper, whom did He send? The ultimate helper: the Blessed Holy Spirit!
Therefore, in fulfillment of His promise to make a helper for man, God created the best helper: a woman—soft on the outside, but a heavyweight companion on the inside.
🌄🌹🪘🤎A WIFE IS A GREAT PERSONAGE
A wife is a being who is loaded to the brim with every bit of help her man will need from her as his companion. This means every wife is a high personage: a person of great significance, importance, and an embodiment of unique talents and abilities. She is a resource person and a consultant for her husband. In fact, in several marriages, the wife is apparently more gifted, better coordinated, more articulate, more foresighted, wiser, and more influential than the husband. Such pairings are not accidental; God deliberately arranged them.
🌄🌹🪘🤎IF YOU’RE BETTER GIFTED, DON’T BE HAUGHTY, DON’T REBEL!
It is in this area of giftedness that every wife has to be very careful and guard her heart against being lifted up with pride. She must not be deceived into sidelining, despising, and belittling her husband, which leads to her tragic transformation from a God-sent helper to a satanic agent of usurpation.
🌄🌹🪘🤎A FEW QUESTIONS TO ANSWER
What are your husband’s weaknesses? Is he a stammerer while you are a sleek orator? Recognize that God placed you in his life to be his voice when he needs eloquence and the tongue of the articulate.
Are you more educated, more traveled, and by far more exposed? God brought you into his life not to taunt him with your abilities, capabilities, and versatility, but to adorn him with the glories you have brought into his world. If he has never boarded a plane in his life, let your presence in his life be his gateway into that vista of life.
Are you richer and by far more affluent than him despite his endless hustles? Don’t make the mistake of thinking that he isn’t rich because he is not hardworking. God brought you into his life to help him financially and to guide him to learn and master the art of wealth creation.
🌄🌹🪘🤎JEZEBEL: THE USURPER WHO MADE HER HUSBAND A PUPPET
Jezebel, a Sidonian princess, got married to King Ahab and discovered that he had a weak personality—the exact opposite of hers. While she was bold and audacious, her husband was someone whom the mere denial of the sale of an inheritance by a citizen would cause to lie in bed and sulk for hours.
Instead of being an Ezer, and agent of rescue to her husband and strengthening him in the areas where he was weak, Jezebel took advantage of his frail personality, subtly hijacked his royal powers, and turned him into a puppet who eagerly did her biddings. The Bible says of him:
”But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the Lord, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up.” (1 Kings 21:25).
Jezebel turned her husband, King Ahab, into a horse and rode him as she pleased. You must never do such!!
🌄🌹🪘🤎CONCLUSION
Dear wife, always remember that you are in your husband’s life as an agent of rescue, a strong power, and a strong helper! Let your life bring honor, respect, and upliftment to your husband, and not shame, infamy, or reproach.🤎
