Enriching Matrimonies

THE POWER OF LOVE SONGS (PT 2)

Scripture:
‘LET HIM KISS ME WITH THE KISSES OF HIS MOUTH’
(SONG OF SOLOMON 1:2A)

🎵🎶🪘The New Testament compares marriage to the relationship between Christ and the Church.
When you examine the bond between the Lord and His Church, one of the first things you will notice is Songs. The Church’s love and devotion to Christ overflows in the form of songs of praise, worship, adoration and thanksgiving. When the Church sings, the Lord draws even closer because He delights in inhabiting the praises of His people(Psalm 22:3).

Just as spiritual songs draw Christ closer to the Church, love songs also have the power to draw spouses closer to one another. In my experience, there have been times when I have sung love songs about my wife in her absence and after a while, I felt her presence as if my song had summoned her through a mysterious invocation, even though she was kilometers away at her workplace!

🪗🪈🪇FROM SWEETNESS TO ACHES
As we discussed in yesterday’s devotional, love songs can cover several aspects of your life as a couple: from the sweetness of a kiss to the ache of missing your spouse’s presence.
In the Song of Solomon, the couple’s songs included admiration, adulation, praise, desire, and passion, as well as the details of a brief misunderstanding.

🎨🖌️🖼️NON MUSICAL COMPOSITIONS ARE ALSO POWERFUL
Perhaps you are not the musical type. Not to worry! Your education has armed you with the ability to write, draw or paint; use that skill to compose love letters or make a romantic portraits of your Beloved. You can freely and adequately express your feelings, admiration, and devotion through the written word or with the brush.
Why not capture the wonderful time you shared last night in a detailed and vividly descriptive essay and present it to your mate? It will most definitely add to the beauty of your romance.

📸📷📽️BE A ROMANTIC PHOTOGRAPHER!
Pick up your camera or phone and capture those special moments when your spouse looks their best. Yes, capture those special occasions your spouse did something you need to recall in the future. Video sensationally romantic activities that thrilled both of you. However, you must exercise wisdom: avoid taking nude photographs to prevent the risk of private images falling into the wrong hands.

📹🎞️🎙️DEEPENING THE HARMONY
These creative expressions will act as powerful reinforcers of your covenant of marriage. Just as Christ responds to the intentional adoration of His bride, your spouse responds to the intentionality of your pursuit. When you take the time to write, sing, or photograph your partner, you are essentially saying, “I see you, you’re my celebrity, my Star; I value you, and you are worth the effort of my creativity.” This mirrors the way God continuously pursues us with His unrelenting and unfailing love.

📽️🎞️🎥DOCUMENTING YOUR LOVE
Furthermore, these expressions serve as a vital “memory bank” for the leaner seasons of marriage. On days when communication feels strained or life feels mundane, a love song you wrote, a saved love letter or a cherished photograph acts as a lighthouse, guiding your hearts back to the affection you first shared. By documenting your love today, you are providing a map for your hearts to find their way home to the  glorious “Oasis of Love” where your love first dwelt and flourished in the younger days of your matrimony.
