🪘🎷🎸💕 Solomon wrote one thousand and five (1,005) songs (1 Kings 4:32).
Of those numerous songs, only one is available to us today, and it is introduced as the Song of Songs (Song of Solomon 1:1). It is the Bible’s one and only song focused on romantic love.
What are songs for? They are to be sung and heard; that is how their purpose is fulfilled. When a song is sung, the listener hears it, and the message impacts their heart, mind, and body. Depending on its lyrical content, the message of a love song could completely reshape a marriage and set it on a joyful new course.
🪘🎷🎸💕 USE YOUR TALENTS
Some of you spouses are composers, painters, writers, poets, or photographers. You need to bring your gifts and talents of communication into the arena of your marriage. As a songwriter and composer, I can speak at length about the power of love songs in marriage.
Songs are a form of communication. In a love song, you express your affection, mood, thoughts, esteem, and appreciation, as well as your gratitude for your mate. You can sing about virtually every aspect of your relationship—from kisses to how you feel when your spouse is far away.
Each time you sing a love song you composed for your spouse, it reawakens, renews, and reinvigorates your love for them, sometimes on a completely new level.
If love songs are powerful, so too are the romantic essays, love letters, amorous poems, artworks, and photographs you create as expressions of your love. Each time you reread or view them afresh, they evoke new feelings. Your union needs that refreshment from time to time.
🪘🎷🎸💕 COME INTO MY WORLD OF LOVE SONGS
When God gives you a spouse, it is up to you to use every God-given means within your personal world to increase, deepen, and enrich your mutual affection, passion, and intimacy. Let me bring you into the world of my love songs for a few minutes.
Many years ago, I wrote the following song as an expression of love for my wife. It’s titled: The Fairest Among Women
”I have traveled East and West, I have been North and South, And have seen many, many, many women. But there’s something that I know: There’s just none like my wife; She’s the fairest among all women! There is something that I know: There’s just none like my wife; She’s the fairest among all women!”
Chorus: “Grace Unekwu Anselm-Ahman is the fairest among all women. Mrs. Anselm-Ahman is the fairest among all women.”
As I sang this song again and again in my heart, my soul became closed to every other woman on Earth. In singing such a song, you are making strong, positive confessions and releasing the power of life into your life and marriage, because death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). As you’re setting forth your spouse as the very best of the opposite gender, you are quietly transformed into an indefatigable lover and devotee of the person you adulate through such songs. There is immense power in love songs.
🪘🎷🎸💕 NOBODY NEEDS A CONCUBINE Nobody needs a concubine, a “side chick,” a “side dude,” or any of that nonsense. There is power within your personal world to enrich your love life as a couple. Use those powers today and see your union gradually transformed into a glorious world of love and fidelity.
