💛🍂🍁Of the sins enumerated by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:19-21 under divine inspiration, the entire gamut is spearheaded by adultery and followed by three additional sexual sins: fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness:
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness” (Galatians 5:19).
Doesn’t this show you how pervasively widespread sexual sins have become? It is far beyond an epidemic. It has become a worldwide pandemic afflicting even those you ordinarily wouldn’t expect: preachers of the gospel.
💛🍂🍁A GREAT SHOCK
Sir/Ma, if you don’t believe that sexual immorality—particularly adultery—has become a pandemic, then go on the internet and type “Pastors accused of sexual misconduct,” and you’ll be astonished at the multitude of sexually scandalized preachers it will churn out.
💛🍂🍁HOW DID THEY GO DOWN SO LOW?
Exactly what is it that a preacher is seeking to get by sleeping with his congregant’s wife? Or the woman who came for counselling? Or a woman and her daughter? What is a pastor seeking to achieve by paying teenage boys to have sex with his own wife—and she willingly consenting? What is a preacher of a megachurch in his 70s looking for by getting involved sexually with minors?
💛🍂🍁AND WOMEN ARE NOT EXEMPT
In my study of what’s going on, I found out that women are not exempted either. They are also neck-deep in the menace. A pastor’s wife slept with the bishop and a deacon of her husband’s church. A 36-year-old woman enticed a 12-year-old boy and had sex with him almost 200 times, rewarding him with a gift when he completed the 100th time.
💛🍂🍁MORE THAN MEETS THE EYES
If you’re spiritual, you can’t read all the heartbreaking accounts above and not know that they are not ordinary. They are fiendish works orchestrated by the devil and the forces of darkness. It tells us that there’s a great but silent war raging, and sexual sins are the foremost ammunition and weaponry the enemy is using. Even though all humanity is his target, the church is his primary focus. And that’s why you must wake up and give serious heed to obeying our anchor scripture for today: don’t feel smug about the fact that you’re still standing. Take heed lest you fall!
If other married preachers and Christians—just as you’ve earlier read—have fallen into sexual sins and are in disgrace today, some of them serving long jail terms, you have great need to be sober, vigilant, and watchful lest you also fall into sexual transgressions.
💛🍂🍁FLEE ADULTERY!!
Many elderly Christians believe it’s teenagers, youths, spinsters, and bachelors that need the admonition to flee sexual immorality. But that’s not true. God’s Word is screaming at the top of its voice and warning Christian fathers, mothers, clergymen, clergywomen, etc., in the church to take the necessary steps to avoid falling into sexual immorality.
God’s Word is very clear on exactly what you ought to do to avoid falling into sexual sins. It’s in the Bible:
“Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband” (1 Corinthians 7:2).
This scripture isn’t saying that you should just marry; it’s saying, “Get married and be very practical about sexual intercourse. Get married and prioritize sexual intimacy in your union, so that you don’t in any way stumble and fall into sexual scandal.” Why? Because just one fall is enough to ruin you and splash disrepute on the church.
💛🍂🍁TIME TO GET PROACTIVE IN YOUR MARRIAGE
It’s unfortunate that very many spouses, including preachers and preachers’ wives, are not intentional, proactive, and vigilant sexually. Why? Because they are spiritually oblivious to the silent but raging war in which the first four weapons of offensive in the enemy’s arsenal are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, and lasciviousness. They see sexual intimacy as “play,” a frivolity, a triviality, and an unserious activity, not knowing it is the bulletproof safeguard which God has given them to wear so they are protected from getting hit by the devil’s bullets of sexual temptation.
💛🍂🍁UNDERSTAND THE COSTS
If you and your spouse truly understand the costs or implications of falling into sexual sins at your age and with your status and name, you will give childlike obedience to our anchor scripture and intensify your bedroom life. You will stop those old arguments over sexual intimacy because you ought to have outgrown such pettiness by now.
💛🍂🍁CONCLUSION
If you’re going to intensify your bedroom life, you will also need to renew and improve your communication, romance, companionship, forgiveness, etc., in your marriage. This is because a consistently robust bedroom life is made possible when all other aspects of your marriage are also healthy. Do everything the scripture commands on marriage and your union will be strong. And you and your spouse will not fall victim to the cruel and merciless spirits of immorality that are on the loose.🍁
